Dates and Times

The 2009 retreat begins on Saturday, September 5th, at 12 noon with registration.  The program ends at 12 noon, Monday, September 7th , with camp cleanup from 1 to 2 PM, and an optional recreation period after cleanup until 3PM.

The first activity planned for Saturday afternoon is a choir rehearsal for the Sunday service.  The afternoon is used for recreation and setting up residence in cabins.  Supper is served at 5:00 PM.  The Monday morning workshops and classes will run until 10:30.  Click here for a more complete schedule.

Checking In

After arriving at camp, there are signs to follow leading to the registration area which will be set up in the dining hall, the large building closest to the parking lot. Arriving at noon or later will allow the volunteer coordinators to prepare the check-in area.

Upon registration, complete payment will be required if not paid in advance. Cabin choices must be registered at this time also. Except for those reserved for guests with special needs, all cabins are open and chosen at each family's discretion, perhaps arranging to be with friends from thier own church. Cabins are registered to guests on a first come basis.. There are a few cabins with extra amenities that are saved for families with infants or other special needs.

An agenda will be sent in advance to each church attending, lisiting the year's current programs. Each person will be required to choose from among the courses of study or workshops offered (also listed here).

There are structured activities for children and teens, also, and it is important that they are registered in the proper age group. Nursery care may be available for pre-school age children during the sessions, registration is required.

Everyone is asked to volunteer to perform just ONE camp duty chosen from among a list, such as cooking and cleanup, for ONE meal period. When registering, there will be a sign up sheet available to choose from available work duties. Work will be assigned from each person's preferences. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EVERYONE SIGNS UP FOR A JOB. There are plenty of people available, so if everyone signs up, no one will be stuck working every shift.

Weather

At this time of year, days in the mountains are usually mild, with warm or hot afternoons and chilly evenings. Nights can be very cold - temperatures often drop into the 30s and 40s. It is important to bring clothing and bedding which is suitable for these extremes PLUS be prepared for the possiblility of rain!.

Meals

6 tasty meals will be served from the camp kitchen; Saturday evening, through Monday noon. Curt Becker: (curtis.g.becker @ conus.army.mil) is the person to contact if information is needed about the menu.

Food to Bring

Each family group is asked to bring breakfast goodies and a dinner dessert to share.

If anyone has special dietary needs, they can bring what they require. The kitchen refrigerator can be used for perishables.
